Make Your Mark meetups

Turn your ideas into reality

The meetup in Deptford went well yesterday - lots of interesting projects - here's a round up of who came:

Chris from Positive Place www.thepositiveplace.org.uk supports people whose lives are affected by HIV and AIDS. He is looking for groups who want to rent out space in his building on Deptford Broadway - ideally on a regular basis. The space would be good for training workshops, events or meetings.

Adenike from LYST www.lyst.biz provides workspace and support for young people starting in businesses. She is looking for reasonably priced rental accommodation in Deptford - ideally a two bed flat. This would be rented by LYST to accommodate ex-offenders who are looking to start up in business - they would also get business advice and workspace at LYST as part of the support package.

Jimmy is a musician and artist and provides music therapy. He is looking for clients as well as someone interested in helping with funding bids.

Chan is working on an ongoing interdisciplinary project around surveillance in society and is looking for others interested in this area.

Julia runs Café Orange in Telegraph Hill and is looking for a mentor who has experience of running a social enterprise café - as she is developing the café to attract a wider audience. She also has an open day for Café Orange on 4th June.

Kieran set up Raw Nerve - a multimedia design collective - www.raw-nerve.co.uk and created the RSVP website for creative talent in London - www.rsvplondon.co.uk. It's free to join the community and use the online tools to promote your work and connect with other creative people. The next RSVP networking event is on June 21st - it will be a summer BBQ at Cockpit Arts - details on the website.

John and Sandra are involved in alternative therapies but are also developing ideas around events. Sandra talked about a project called News from Nowhere which presents visions of utopia. Sandra is interested in putting on events where people talk about positive, inspiring stories and experiences - to counteract the diet of bad news that we get every week in the South London Press - I can relate to that!

Bridget set up Flow Associates and works as a consultant in the cultural and educational sectors (she also writes a v.interesting blog - http://bridgetmckenzie.blogspot.com). Bridget set up a network called Hill Business for freelancers and small businesses in Telegraph Hill. She is organising a day called Hillabaloo on July 21st in Telegraph Hill to celebrate the community and the wonderful views of London. She is looking for artists, musicians, photographers, performers - anyone who wants to join in and show their vision.

The next meetup in Deptford is: May 21st, 12 noon, The Albany café.

Pass the details on to anyone you think might like to come along....
